"Can aggression be peacefully resisted?"
A question proposed by: Mary
Most would agree that we need to end aggression in the world; that we should be able to 'learn' to co-exist, embrace, even celebrate our differences and live together in peace, right across the world (eventually at least - whatever the heck that means). Non-aggression therefore seems the only option, for how else can we oppose aggression in order to end it? If we do not hold to this value well, that's a very different issue, but if we do, then a response of equal aggression against the aggressor does nothing surely other than perpetuate aggression? ...Which of course is exactly the opposite of the value we say we hold to... So where does that leave us, an aggression to end all aggression... or what!?

Inconclusive then... but I really enjoyed the film viewing of Mary's production. It was extremely thought provoking and drove some interesting reflection and discussion.
I think the general concensus though, was that there are boundaries to non-violence. Hard to define abstractly perhaps but interesting to consider the ramifications.
